Lenovo Miix 510 review

Lenovo Miix 510 is one of the Windows tablets which has loads of things to love about. It is great to see that there is some device competing with Microsoft Surface products at an affordable price. It might not be as good as Surface Pro 6 but a great competitor to Acer Switch Alpha 12 and the Surface Pro 4. This Lenovo device is the successor of Lenovo Miix 700 with Intel Core i5, a 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. The cheaper versions are also available but it is the best one amongst all. But, how does it stand in the marketLet’s check it out in the Lenovo Miix 510 review below

Lenovo Miix 510 review

Design:

The Lenovo Miix 510 is a premium looking tablet and is very well designed. Lenovo provides it with a detachable keyboard and whenever the keyboard is attached, this tablet gets extra protection. With the keyboard, this one feels very comfortable to hold in hands. Comparing it to Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Lenovo Miix 510 has done this job in a more matured way and charged zero value for it. The side controls are tactile and got plastic build which is a big complaint against this design. This 2-in-1 tablet is light- weighing around 900 grams without the keyboard. You can easily buy this online using Croma Offers with great discounts.

The Lenovo keyboard comes with AccuType-style keys which are curvy in nature along the bottom edge. The keys are not having much of key travel in comparison to Surface Pro 4 and it takes away your typing experience. If you are a light typist, then this might suit your hands. The device is rich in ports including 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C, and USB 3.0. If you want to take notes on this tablet, then the stylus might come in very handy and the screen is very responsive to the stylus. The Lenovo Miix 510 is a slim device for professional usage. And, looking at the price tag, Lenovo Miix 510’s design doesn’t disappoint at all.

Coming to the display, Lenovo Miix 510 a 12.2-inch Full HD IPS display with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. The bezels look thick but don’t ruin your movie watching experience. The display is stunning as the colors come out vivid and bright. Talking about viewing angles, one can watch movies from any angle and not get any issues. The resolution is a big problem here which is only Full HD. Comparing to devices like Surface Pro 4 and Acer Switch 12, pixel resolution is low. But, when it comes to real-time usage, you won’t feel any issues.

Performance

Lenovo Miix 510 comes with Intel Core i5-7200U under the hood which means this 2-in-1 product works lightning fast and doesn’t pop up with any performance issues. Sadly, it is not a gaming device for you. But, when it comes to day to day activities like making documents, web browsing, movie watching or video streaming- you get to do everything with utter ease. Comparing it to other devices like Microsoft Surface 4 Pro, the device scored a similar score on the Geekbench tests- both single-core and multi-core.

It is good to see USB-C in Lenovo Miix 510 which has kept USB standard alive. But, the company has decided to go with a rounded charger instead of USB-C charger. It is a benefit for USB-C users as even Microsoft hasn’t brought USB-C in its devices. On one hand, where Microsoft is struggling to bring it and don’t feel that USB-C is a necessary upgrade, Apple is making its own path with USB-C charging in tablets and laptops. There is no microSD port in the device. Also, there is a 2MP front camera and a 5MP camera on the back. The audio came out loud and clear which is good for everyday usage.

Battery Life

Comparing Lenovo’s Miix 510 to Surface Pro 4 and Acer Switch Alpha 12, the battery life fells short. On the video playback test, the device stayed alive for 4 hours and 40 minutes. In the same test, Surface Pro 4 stayed alive for more than 35 minutes. It might not be a heck lot of difference but it is worth keeping in mind. Looking at the price, you might feel it is a fair deal though. In terms of battery life various options available in the market and one can buy those using Mobikwik Coupons with great offers.

Final Verdict

Lenovo Miix 510 is a great device. It comes at a reasonable price with loads of power under the hood. For day-to-day tasking, this device doesn’t slow down for a sec. It is way ahead Surface Pro 4 when it comes to price and performs similarly like it.  The display isn’t as high resolution as Microsoft’s product but it is stunning still. The battery life falls short- 30-40 minutes short.  It is an overall performer basically which has a lot to live about. So, if you are looking for an affordable Windows laptop, there is no alternative to Lenovo’s Miix 510.
